That one time I drove across the country during COVID: Ontario 2020

So here’s the thing… Before COVID closed earth down for a year-ish, my cousin and his fiancé had hired me to be their wedding photographer. With a brand new photography business I was both thrilled and absolutely terrified. Our family is… well… it’s HUGE. So I knew this wedding was going to be massive. I never planned on photographing traditional weddings. But how do you say no to your little cousin?

And then the most unexpected thing happened, Black Plague 2.0 ravaged the world. I’m not going to lie, I was a bit relieved because it went from a 200 guest wedding to a 40 person pandemic wedding! But I was still left with the predicament, how the hell was I going to get from Alberta to Ontario without boarding a plane, unable to travel through the States, and not blowing my entire budget? I mean, we all know it’s possible. Not ideal, but possible. And that’s what I did. The not ideal, but the possible, and hauled ass to Haldimand County from Edmonton, Alberta in three days.

I didn’t take many photos on this trip. Majority of it was spent driving, and I was a bit photo-out after photographing a full day wedding. But here are a few highlights from my sunrise walk in Port Maitland and driving through the gorgeous Ontario autumn colours with a quick stop at Old Woman Bay.
